These secondhand single deckers looked highly attractive in the original First Barbie livery. The double doors were unusual for single deckers in the area (although the Diamond Bus Northern Counties / Dennis Lances were a memorable exception). And just as unusual at the time was First’s use of these Wright-bodied Lances on the 144 service. They were based at Worcester and very typically employed on the 33 route. In early 2007 (this shot hails from 9th March), the 144s were pretty solidly operated by Enviro 300s, and I remember making a special effort to get this photo – such was my surprise at seeing this bus on the route. You can now see plenty of images covering the Longbridge regeneration at the Change at Longbridge site.
